HALLMARK

When it comes to manufacturing jewellery and silverware, precious metals (silver, palladium, gold and platinum) are rarely used in their purest form. Instead, they are usually alloyed with lesser metals to achieve the desired strength, durability, and colour.

It is not possible to detect the precious metal content of an item by sight or by touch. It is, therefore, a legal requirement to have items consisting of silver, palladium, gold or platinum independently

tested and then hallmarked before they can be described as such. Items must bear a hallmark at the point of sale, subject to the following weight exemptions:

Silver: mandatory for items above 7.78 grams; gold: mandatory for items above 1 gram; palladium: mandatory for items above 1 gram; platinum: mandatory for items above 0.5 grams.

All stock is subject to an internal confirmation process to ensure it meets the UK’s hallmarking regulations before it is dispatched to our customers.

For articles that are below the UK hallmarking Act’s mandatory weight for hallmarking, Hatton Jewellers operates a separate due diligence process which involves periodic voluntary testing of items that fall below the mandatory weight to ensure they meet the minimum fineness requirement.

We are an Assay Assured Jewellery Retailer. Assay Assured status is only given to retailers who have been independently audited and verified by Assay Assured which is run and overseen by the Edinburgh Assay Office, and ensures that all precious metal jewellery (except items exempt by weight) are independently tested and hallmarked.

PRICE MATCH

Our price-match promise means that if you find an identical product to the one we have advertised at a cheaper price we will match the price subject to the conditions below.

The item is identical to ours in weight, colour, and brand.

• The retailer is a registered VAT company.
• The price must be clearly stated on the competitor’s website
• The matching product must be in stock and available for immediate purchase with delivery within 1-2 days
• It will take up to 72 hours to verify the price match, once verified your purchase must be made within 7 days.

PRICE MATCH TERMS & CONDITIONS

• For The Fine Jewellery Price Match Promise to be valid, the product must match identically (including brand, weight, style, colour, and finish), be undamaged, not previously owned, and sold directly through a UK VAT registered retailer.
• The Fine Jewellery Price Match Promise cannot be combined with any other promotions or discount offers.
• The Fine Jewellery Price Match Promise is applicable only to products currently in stock and available for immediate purchase (with delivery within 1-2 days) from the competitor. It excludes products requiring ordering or those with a specified delivery time longer than 2 days.
• The Fine Jewellery Price Match Promise is not extended to corporate customers, and we reserve the right to limit our Price Promise on each item to one per customer. Credit options are not available for Price Match Promise purchases.
• The Fine Jewellery Price Match Promise will not be honoured if the chosen retailer is in administration or liquidation.
• Price Match Promise claims cannot be made for orders placed using LMG Insurance credit cards or to match prices with online-only retailers. Eligible retailers must have a physical high-street store.
